Verification and Sensitivity Analysis of Minimum Spanning Trees in Linear Time

چکیده
Koml os has devised a way to use a linear number of binary comparisons to test whether a given spanning tree of a graph with edge costs is a minimum spanning tree. The total computational work required by his method is much larger than linear, however. We describe a linear-time algorithm for verifying a minimum spanning tree. Our algorithm combines the result of Koml os with a preprocessing and table look-up method for small subproblems and with a previously known almost-linear-time algorithm. Additionally, we present an optimal deterministic algorithm and a linear-time randomized algorithm for sensitivity analysis of minimum spanning trees.

Lecture notes for “Analysis of Algorithms”: Minimum Spanning Trees
We present a general framework for obtaining efficient algorithms for computing minimum spanning trees. We use this framework to derive the classical algorithms of Prim, Kruskal and Bor̊uvka. We then describe the randomized linear-time algorithm of Karger, Klein and Tarjan. The algorithm of Karger, Klein and Tarjan uses deterministic linear-time implementations of a verification algorithm of Kom...

We present a deterministic linear time algorithm for the Tree Path Maxima problem. As a corollary, we obtain a deterministic linear time algorithm for checking whether a given spanning tree T of a weighted graph is a minimum spanning tree.
متن کاملAn Inverse-Ackermann Type Lower Bound For Online Minimum Spanning Tree Verification
Given a spanning tree T of some graph G, the problem of minimum spanning tree verification is to decide whether T = MST (G). A celebrated result of Komlós shows that this problem can be solved with a linear number of comparisons. Somewhat unexpectedly, MST verification turns out to be useful in actually computing minimum spanning trees from scratch. It is this application that has led some to w...
متن کاملOptimal Self-healing of Smart Distribution Grids Based on Spanning Trees to Improve System Reliability
In this paper, a self-healing approach for smart distribution network is presented based on Graph theory and cut sets. In the proposed Graph theory based approach, the upstream grid and all the existing microgrids are modeled as a common node after fault occurrence. Thereafter, the maneuvering lines which are in the cut sets are selected as the recovery path for alternatives networks by making ...
